New Name! New Blog!

January 26, 2011

Please join us on the new blog, Boudoir by Kim Kravitz Photography. And because a post is always better with an image, I’ll leave you with one from my latest marathon.

Just a sneak peek for the amazing Ms. S. She rocked her session and was up for every crazy idea that I had!

This year I am totally feeling like I’m 6 again. I can not freaking wait for “Santa” to come so we can open presents. I so want to go shake all the boxes under the tree to try to figure out what I’m getting this year. I’ve been good so far and haven’t done it but with Christmas being so close it’s hard to resist. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a happy Holiday Season!

I have been wanting to do a post like this for a long time but just have never sat down to write it. My whole goal for my boudoir sessions is that when you leave your session you feel like a million bucks! It doesn’t matter your shape, your size, or your age. Beauty really does come from within and that beauty is what shows in your session. You may be nervous about doing a boudoir session, I can tell you when I did mine I was TERRIFIED! But it was something that I had been dying to do. I, also, plan to do another to celebrate myself. My first session was for my husband for a wedding gift. I want the next one to be for me. It is my job as your photographer to coach you through your session. I have studied and researched and studied some more the best poses and lighting to accentuate a woman’s body. You have to trust me during your session. I’m not there to make you look like a fool or feel uncomfortable. I there to help you look and feel your best. Below are some of my favorite images from boudoir session. These are posted with permission. These woman are not they typical a size 0, 20 something model. They are real women! They are moms and wives (or fiance’s) just like most of you and me. They totally rocked their sessions!!

The whole point of this post is no one is perfect, not even myself, and ANYONE can rock a boudoir session. If you think you are not pretty enough or skinny enough or young enough to do one of these sessions, you’re wrong! I dare you to believe in yourself, take the plunge, and rock your own boudoir session!

I just launched my website!! You can view it here. I’m, also, booking sessions! For a limited time only I am offering 25% off of all A la Carte items when you book a regular session. To book your session please email me at kimkravitzphotography@gmail.com or call at 0160.94629712.

I'm officially closed!

May 20, 2010

So, the time has come! I’m officially closed. I am excited about our new adventure in Heidelberg, Germany. I will not be taking on any more sessions for the moment. If I do have an available date for a session before we officially leave I will post it here on my blog and on my Facebook a few days before. I want to say THANK YOU! to all of my awesome clients and everyone who has supported me here in Kansas.

And because a post is always better with a picture here is a shot from my latest OpLove session. Enjoy!

I TAUGHT MY FIRST BOUDOIR CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so nervous about teaching. Mpix.com put on a meet-up and I volunteer to teach the boudoir class. I want to give this opportunity a blog post of its own so I’m not going to write much on it now. I did want to come say though I am sorry that I have neglected my poor blog and will get back into the swing of things soon! And you will get to see some awesome images from my class! :D

It is with a heavy heart that I actually have to write a post like this. Today I want to talk about copyright and your images. Copyright by definition is as follows: Copyright is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. These rights can be licensed, transferred and/or assigned. Copyright lasts for a certain time period after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Copyright applies to a wide range of works that are substantive and fixed in a medium. Some jurisdictions also recognize “moral rights” of the creator of a work, such as the right to be credited for the work. Copyright is described under the umbrella term intellectual propertypatents and trademarks.” If you would like to read up more on copyright feel free to check out Wikipedia.

Now, you may be wondering where this random post is coming from. I happen to be browsing on Facebook and happen to stumble upon this:

As you can see, the image that that baby is holding has my watermark on it. Unfortunately, this image was copied from this clients viewing gallery and printed out. This is a HUGE no no! This violates copyright and is stealing. I understand that the economy sucks right now and times are tough but when something like this happens it is taking money out of my pocket and off of my dinner table. Doing this would be like going into Dillard’s and walking out with a shirt without paying for it.

This is, also, a big no no:

I take pride in my work. I do not give anyone the right to edit my work as they please.

Other HUGE no no’s include: scanning your prints and printing more, scanning your prints and posting them on the internet, trying to print the images I post on facebook and here on my blog, using your images for other purposes than personal purposes, trying to sell your images for profit, taking pictures of your prints with you phone and posting/printing them, etc. etc. If it has any of my watermarks on it, then it’s not meant to be printed.

I do my very best to provide you, as the client, the very best product and service I possibly can. When things like this happen, it is very discouraging. If you are booking me as for an OpLove session or a Think Pink session, then please be grateful for the FREE gift you are getting. I volunteer my time for these two organizations and provide free products to you. They are free to you but not to me. I have to pay for your products out of my own pocket. You, also, get an additional discount on products you do order. I never expect a sale off of these two types of session. What I do expect is that you are grateful and appreciative of my gift to you. I don’t really know what else to say on this topic. I try to give back to deserving people and a few bad apples who have screwed me over, are possibly ruining it for everyone. This is not the first time something like this has happen, but I do have to say it will hopefully be the last time.

The images on Facebook are there for you to use on the social networking sites you belong to. I have no problem with that. The only thing that I ask for in return is that you do not crop out the watermark. To me, that is a pretty fair trade.

I hate having to do a post like this, but I feel like it is necessary. I don’t blame anyone who does this. I guess I look at it with a naive eye and hope that people who are doing this are just uneducated about the subject and aren’t trying to screw me over.

Below is my shooting schedule for the Junction City, KS Tease marathon, please let me know ASAP if you would like a slot. It is first come (with a paid deposit) first serve.
