Connor 2012 Heidelberg Senior

Connor was a breeze to work with! I had met his mom at one of my Learning To Click classes. I was thrilled when she wanted to talk senior portraits. :) We got Connor scheduled and a few weeks later we were shooting his session. Connor is a captain for the cross country team. He’s super smart too! He plans on studying physics after he graduates.

The day of Connor’s session, the weather was wonderful! I don’t think we could have asked for a better day. And it wasn’t overly crowded down town, which was a HUGE plus! These two factors made getting Connor some kick-ass senior portraits super easy! I’m very pleased with the way Connor’s image turned out, and feel very honored to have the opportunity to photograph such a wonderful young man.

Getting caught up again

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been trying to get caught up on blogging. Since I was sick all last week, my happy butt stayed in bed most of the time. And that meant I, once again, feel behind on getting my fall clients images up. Now, that I’m back to feeling 100%, it’s time to get caught back up.

Dakota was one of my only seniors from Wiesbaden this year. He was super easy to work with. A little on the quiet side, but took direction well and was up for most anything I asked him to do. Toward the end of the session, though, the temperature dropped and it got cold! I was in my toe shoes and he had no jacket. We were freezing! Dakota rocked it through the cold temps and all. :) Couldn’t have asked for a better session. I enjoyed exploring Wiesbaden and can’t wait to do it again with my next bunch of seniors.

Playing Catch Up

Winter break sure did sneak up on me. In fact, in suck up so quickly I didn’t have time to blog all of my session from 2011. Every one of my awesome clients deserves their 15 minutes of fame on my blog. That’s just how cool they all are. So, over the next few days, I’ll be playing catch up to get everyone’s images up. :)

First up, Caelan. If you follow my blog, you’ve probably seen him on the blog a few times. Here, Here, Here, and was featured on Inside the Locker Here. ;) He’s a repeat offender lol. Caelan has always been super easy to work with. He’s a very out going kid and has a good head on his shoulders. He, also, just found out that he got accepted to Ohio State! Go you!!

During Caelan’s latest session, he was sick and had no voice. It was quit amusing to see us out and about. I was sick too, but I had a voice. I just had a runny nose and someone apparently left the faucet turned on. Add the cold ass wind and I was a hot mess lol :P. We rocked it, though, and Caelan now has some kick-ass senior portraits!

Puppy Dogs and Rainbows

Yesterday was filled with just about every emotion imaginable. I was able to experience the joy of another shooting another homecoming through the OpLove program and the high of seeing my 49ers kicking-ass in the post season after so many disappointing seasons. I, also, felt sadness and heartache. I captured those moments of a fellow army spouse on camera and felt them all at the same time. Kinda crazy how it doesn’t even have to be you who can’t find your soldier in the sea of people and you still know exactly how she feels. I heard my client say something, I don’t even remember what, but I turned around to see where she was going. It could have been something that would have helped tell the story of her day. I saw her hugging her friend, and I didn’t even need to go over there to see what was up, I knew what the concern was about. At mine and my husband’s first homecoming, it was a pain in the ass to find my hubby. It wasn’t until after everyone I knew had found their soldier, that I found mine. Before I found him, I felt shear panic, heartache, disappointment, etc. When I saw those two ladies standing there, my heart sank and all of those feelings I felt almost 5 years ago, came back in an instant.

Yesterday’s homecoming wasn’t my first one, but it was the first one that I almost lost it and broke down at. When my soldier is home it’s so much easier to get through shooting these homecomings. I have never had to deal with all of the blah emotions I deal with when he’s gone until yesterday. The army spouse that I met and snapped these few images of yesterday blogged about her emotional roller coaster. Figured since I managed to capture her raw emotions on camera I would share her blog post too. Being married to the military has it’s ups, and they are GREAT! when they happen, but you also have to deal with the downs, and to put it bluntly, they sucks ass!! I appreciate everything that I have experienced due to being married to the military. I try my best not to take anything for granted and live in the moment as much as possible. Most people focus on the soldiers and how war affects them. I feel like less light is shed on the family and how war affects them. It’s tough on both ends, and I’m not here to debate who has it worse, but being on the other side of the fence and having felt similar emotions, I felt it was appropriate to share her story.
