A change is always a good thing | Heidelberg Germany Photographer

If you’re on my Facebook, you might have seen my status update this morning. :) I’m making a big change for KKP. I’ve said it for quite some time that I would like to specialize in only Seniors, Couples, and Boudoir. A.K.A, I want to specialize in adults only. I’m just not a kid person. :( Crazy coming out of my mouth since I have two of them. And even more crazy that I just photographed my best family session ever a few weeks ago. I guess my point is, most of my family and children inquires want a more traditional portrait session. It’s just not me. I’m all about going and exploring with your family for two hours looking at bugs, getting dirty, going for ice cream, etc. but it just hasn’t happen yet, except for one time. So, I’ve made the decision to go ahead and stop shooting children or family sessions. If you are interested in a child or family session, I have two awesome ladies that I can refer you too. :) Staci and Tawny. They are both wonderful and has an awesome eye for photography!

Now, of course there are always exceptions to the rules. Ha! If I have met you and your children or I have done your family portraits before, I have no problem doing them again. :) Your kids know me already and you know my shooting style, so we won’t have to deal with the awkwardness of who the strange lady with the camera is. ;) Also, I will still be offering to do CYS and other sports images. I love doing these! The kids are totally in there own little world when they are at practice. It’s just so much fun!

This change, for me, is the best one to make. I want to shoot what I love and I want to enjoy it! It’s part of the perk of being self-employed. :) If you have any questions about this change please feel free to email me at kim@kimkravitzphotography.com.

And because a post is always better with and image, this one was taken at my daughter’s school of the cherry blossom trees when they bloomed a few weeks ago.

Good for you for knowing what you want! I definitely concur that lifestyle and fun is harder with a family that wants poses. I am trying to avoid families as well. Good luck!

First of all, also love the photo! Yummy DOF!

Congrats on the decision! I find myself in a place all too often where I’m trying to be a jack of all trades. Sometimes it’s so freeing to focus in on what you really love! I’m excited to see what amazing stuff will come from narrowing your focus!

I can’t begin to tell you how much I LOVE this photo… it is simply GORGEOUS! I personally prefer the more photojournalistic approach, too… but then I’m no pro photographer. :)

WOW!!! This is beautiful. About the change, it’s like you said, “that’s what being self employed is all about”. You do your job because you enjoy or most of us would find a new one. It’s your business and you have the right to chose who or what you want to shoot. Go for it and enjoy it. love your work and style and love you.

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous shot, Kim! And I can definitely understand your decision. You’re not into the traditional sit-down-and-smile family poses. Neither am I. Honestly, they’re boring. I like the more photojournalistic approach. That’s why I choose a photographer who can make our children’s session as spontaneous and fun as possible.

It’s about time you offer some sports images. Can’t wait to see some of those photos! If you ever want to practice with tennis shots, come join me and my kids at the court some time. =)
